The spirit of Halloween lives at Blackthorne Resort

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge fan of the Blackthorne Resort at 348 Sunside Road in East Durham. Years ago, I used to vacation there and since moving to the area, the Blackthorne Bar has become my local watering hole and the resort my home away from home. But let me tell you something, if you missed this past weekend, you missed one heck of a Halloween party!

On Saturday, October 24, I stopped by to meet up with friends and family for the annual Halloween Festival and Vendor Market, better known as the Oddities Festival. The place was alive with incredible vendors, awesome food, entertainment, and enough Halloween spirit to make even a ghost feel right at home!

Mother Nature delivered perfect weather, the crowds were buzzing, and the whole resort was rocking. I mean, when you see witches dancing with Bigfoot, you know something strange is going on! Either you didn’t check your Halloween candy carefully enough, or you’re at the legendary Blackthorne Resort! There’s a reason people say, “It’s always a great time at the Blackthorne!”

But here's the thing, folks… the fun isn't over! If you thought you missed the Halloween event of the season, you still have a chance to be part of the next big one!

Bring the whole family from 1-3 p.m. for an afternoon packed with Halloween fun! We're talking trunk or treat, pumpkin painting, a haunted house, face painting, a kids’ costume contest and parade, plus a dog costume parade and contest. Bring the little monsters, dress up the pups, and get ready for a Halloween afternoon the whole family will remember for years to come!

And when the sun goes down? That's when the grown-up ghouls come out to play!

Starting at 9 p.m., head to the Main Bar for an unforgettable Halloween Costume Party featuring live music by The Refrigerators. Show off your best Halloween look and compete for costume contest prizes for first, second and third place. Great music, outrageous costumes, and a party atmosphere that only the Blackthorne can deliver!

From family fun in the afternoon to a rockin’ Halloween party after dark, the Blackthorne Resort is where the memories are made, the stories are born, and the Halloween spirit comes alive. Don't spend Halloween wishing you had gone. Be there, be part of it, and give yourself a story to tell!
