The closest thing to an angel I have ever been around

This weekend, at a benefit in Athens, I met an extraordinary four-year-old girl named Lavender Moon. Looking at this child, my thought was, “This is the closest thing to a true angel I have ever been around.” This child made me feel something spiritual.

Lavender has an inoperable brain tumor, and her doctors have done all they can.

Yet this little girl has a spirit that shines brighter than words can describe. Her smile brings happiness, her presence touches hearts, and her light reminds us how precious life truly is. She is a magical little spirit, an angel on Earth, and she deserves to be surrounded by love, hope, positive and healing energy.

What you believe in isn't important. What matters is that you believe in something. Maybe it's God, prayer, a higher power, the universe, healing energy, or simply the goodness of humanity. Different faiths and traditions have different ways of expressing hope and seeking healing, but love, compassion, and the desire to see a child thrive are universal. We may walk different paths, but we can all stand together for Lavender.

Imagine hundreds, even thousands, of people taking a moment to focus their hearts and minds on this beautiful child. All you have to do is picture a golden healing glow surrounding her, it will grow brighter with every prayer, every positive thought, and every act of belief in healing. I truly believe together we can be the miracle she needs! We are not powerless when it comes to making a difference.

So, wherever you are and whatever you believe, take a moment today. Close your eyes, picture Lavender's smiling face, and send her your love. Pray if you pray. Send positive energy if that's your way, send healing energy, and remember that hope is also action: supporting her family, sharing her story respectfully, and reminding them they are not alone is a power all its own.

Lavender is the little girl in the picture on the left beside Vylette, her big sister and best friend. Look at their smiles and remember what truly matters. We may not share the same religion, spirituality, or beliefs, but we can share one powerful purpose: to surround this little girl with so much healing energy that whatever divine spirit controls this universe, will have to stop and heal this child. Even if you don't believe and find my words ridiculous, stop and try it anyway!

Let's fan Lavender's flame together. Let love be our common ground, hope be our message, and together, let's be her miracle.
