Thompson's Lake Ice Fishing Competition
Thacher State Park’s annual Ice Fishing Competition! Cash prizes for the longest fish in Pickerel, Trout, and Perch categories. Traina’s Bait and ‘At First Bite’ Food Truck will be in attendance. Minimum of eight inches of ice required. Registration from 6-9 a.m. Fishing and measurements continue to 1 p.m. $10 registration fee; kids under 12 fish for free. Call the Campground office at 518-872-1674 for additional information and to check on weather conditions for the event.

Save the date for a favorite winter event! The Huyck Preserve’s annual Winter Fest will take place, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Includes indoor and outdoor activities that are fun for the whole family! There will be local vendors, live animals, educational demonstrations, hot food and drink, and outdoor winter activities (weather dependent). Come spend a day in the winter wonderland of the Huyck Preserve.

Hear from a state DEC wildlife biologist about black bears lifestyle and habitat, while learning safety tips and best practices to coexist with bears while avoiding unwanted encounters at home or on the trail.

Learn from Columbia-Greene Master Gardener Volunteers and staff across multiple workshop tracks, including gardening basics, garden maintenance, food and non-food gardening, and wildlife and habitat. Vendors, plant and tool demos, raffles, lunch and baked goods prepared by Master Gardener Volunteers, networking with fellow gardening enthusiasts and much more. Admission: $45.
