CATSKILL—Community Action of Greene County, Inc. is proud to announce that its executive director, Florence Lorenz, has been honored as a 2026 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction by Senator Michelle Hinchey of the 41st Senate District.

The award was presented on May 5, at a ceremony held at the Legislative Office Building in Albany.

The New York State Senate Women of Distinction Award recognizes women across the state who have made exceptional contributions to their communities through leadership, service, and dedication. Each senator nominates an honoree from their district who exemplifies these qualities and whose work has had a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of others.

Lorenz has dedicated her career to advancing equity, opportunity, and self-sufficiency for individuals and families throughout Greene County. Under her leadership, Community Action of Greene County, Inc. has expanded its programs and services to address poverty, housing, food insecurity, and economic mobility—providing vital support to thousands of people each year.

“Community Action of Greene County is honored to have such an accomplished and compassionate leader at its helm, and congratulates Ms. Lorenz on this well-deserved recognition,” the organization stated.

Beyond her efforts at Community Action of Greene County, Lorenz goes above and beyond as she works to strengthen the larger community. She is vice chair of the Greene County Rural Health Network, which advances public health efforts, awareness campaigns, and youth programming.

Lorenz serves on the Columbia-Greene Workforce Development Board, contributing to regional workforce strategy.

For all she has done for Greene County, Lorenz was recently named the 2026 Suzanne Oldakowski Women of Excellence Award recipient by the Greene County Chamber of Commerce.
