Woman arrested for allegedly spanking child at daycare

CAIRO―A Catskill woman has been arrested by State Police for allegedly spanking a child at a Cairo daycare.
Amanda L. Orser, 28, of Catskill is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, according to a news release issued by State Police on Wednesday.
Troopers said the investigation began on July 16 after the Town of Cairo Police Department received a complaint alleging child endangerment involving Orser. The investigation was subsequently turned over to New York State Police.
The preliminary investigation determined that Orser allegedly spanked a three-year-old child in her care at Precious Tots Nursery and Daycare on Schmidt Drive in Cairo without authorization to discipline the child, State Police said.
Orser was arrested on July 17 and issued an appearance ticket to Cairo Town Court.
State Police are asking anyone with information regarding the investigation to contact the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Catskill at 845-344-5300 and reference case number NY2600882732.
