GREENPORT―A Hudson woman is facing charges after allegedly encouraging two children to engage in a physical altercation.
On October 6, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office received a report referred by Columbia County Child Protective Services regarding an incident that occurred on October 3 at the Greenport Garden Apartments on Green Acres Road.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigation determined that Sasha Brown, 33, of Hudson, encouraged two children under the age of 12 to physically fight one another as a way of resolving a disagreement involving Snapchat.
Brown allegedly remained present during the altercation and continued to encourage the children as they fought. One of the children is known to Brown; the other is not, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident was recorded and subsequently shared on social media, prompting public inquiries regarding the sheriff’s office investigation. No injuries were reported, and neither child required hospital treatment, the sheriff’s office said.
Brown has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. She was issued an appearance ticket to Greenport Town Court.
