COXSACKIE―On Tuesday July 7, the Greene County Historical Society is pleased to welcome speaker Richard Muggeo who will give a talk on the Declaration of Independence in celebration of America’s 250th.

Muggeo will examine the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and explain how the rejection of the Olive Branch Petition convinced the Founding Fathers that declaring independence was their only remaining option. He will then turn to what Jefferson wrote in the Declaration itself.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. and be held in the reading room of the Greene County Historical Society’s Vedder Research Library located on the grounds of the Bronck Museum at 90 County Route 42, Coxsackie. Suggested donation for this program is $10.
