Swing, batter! Vintage baseball comes to Conesville

CONESVILLE―Few traditions are as deeply woven into America's history as baseball. As the nation celebrates America's 250th anniversary, the Conesville Historical Society invites you to step back in time and experience the game as it was played more than 160 years ago.

On Saturday, August 1, the Conesville Historical Society will host the Fleischmanns Mountain Athletic Club and the Nine of Ulster County for an exciting vintage baseball game on the historic Buel Farm, located at 198 Brand Road, Conesville (Gilboa if you’re putting into your GPS). Played in a picturesque hayfield using the 1864 Rules of Play, this unique event offers a rare opportunity to see baseball in its earliest form before gloves, modern uniforms, and many of the rules we know today.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome! Please bring a lawn chair or blanket, as seating is not provided. The Conesville Historical Society will have hot dogs, chips, and bottled water available for purchase throughout the afternoon.

The fun doesn't stop at the ballgame! August 1 is also Conesville's Annual Yard Sale Day, making it the perfect opportunity to spend the day exploring the scenic countryside, hunting for bargains, and uncovering hidden treasures before or after the game.  Yard Sale day runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
