
GREENVILLE―The Greenville High School Spartan Clay Trap Team came out on top after a great weekend at the 2026 NYS High School Trap Competition in Cicero.
Out of 48 schools from across the state, Greenville placed first on Saturday, June 6―2A with a score of 468/500, which means they hit a remarkable 93.5% of their targets. They also tied for first place for their high scores across all three days of competition.
Six athletes earned their straight 25 patches, including Christian Close, Chris Hoch, Cooper Hulbert, Gavin Lyons, Tyler Grupe, and Zack Bradt. A straight 25 is a significant milestone where a marksman hits all 25 (out of 25) clay targets in a single round without a miss.
Simone Beaumont earned #1 Trap High Gun Novice Female with a score of 79/100―an honor given to the top-performing female Novice at Saturday's competition.
13 members of the team earned Trap High Gun Varsity Male distinctions as top-scorers in the varsity male division:
