GREENVILLE―The Greenville Irish American Club will once again sponsor the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 21.
The parade has been a Greenville tradition for 52 years.
Participants are asked to line up for the parade at 12:30 p.m. at St. John’s Church parking lot. The parade will step off at 1 p.m. sharp. The usual route will be followed: Route 81 to the traffic light, left on Route 32 and ending with a closing ceremony at the Greenville Public Library steps.
After the closing ceremony, all are welcome to enjoy refreshments and entertainment at the Greenville Elementary School cafeteria.
Anyone interested in participating should contact Eileen Bowden, parade co-chair, at 518-755-7551 or email greenvillestpatricksdayparade@gmail.com.
Organized by Patrick O’Regan, Greenville’s very first St. Patrick’s Day parade took place on March 19, 1974. Later that same year, O’Regan and a group of locals formed the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee with the goal of making it an annual celebration. The following year, it was decided to form the Irish American Club that was officially incorporated in 1980.
