HUDSON―The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA is proud to announce that the recipients of its 2026 Bilinski Award are the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
The Bilinski Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA upon an individual, business, or organization whose passion for and commitment to the welfare of animals reflects the extraordinary generosity, compassion, and devotion demonstrated by Dr. Jerry Bilinski.
The selection of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the Greene County Sheriff's Office recognizes the unwavering dedication both agencies have demonstrated in protecting vulnerable animals and supporting animal cruelty investigations throughout Columbia and Greene counties. Through their professionalism, partnership, and steadfast commitment to justice, members of both agencies have played a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of countless animals in need.
"The work of protecting animals from cruelty and neglect is never accomplished by one person or one organization alone," said Ron Perez, president and chief executive officer of the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA.
"The Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the Greene County Sheriff's Office have consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, compassion, and commitment in the pursuit of animal welfare. Their partnership has saved lives, brought abusers to justice, and strengthened our shared mission to protect those who cannot speak for themselves. It is our privilege to recognize their service with the highest honor our organization can bestow,” Perez said.
The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA was honored to present the 2026 Bilinski Award in recognition of the dedication, professionalism, and compassion exhibited by both agencies and their personnel.
