Community rallies to buy new bike for injured Athens man

ATHENS—David Anderson, an Athens resident who commuted daily by bicycle to his job in Coxsackie, is back on two wheels thanks to an outpouring of local support following an accident.
David was recently rear-ended while riding to work, destroying his bicycle and leaving him with serious injuries to his thumb, wrist, and elbow.
In response, Jerry Stacey of the Red Barn Riders motorcycle group and his wife, Pamela Santillo, launched a fundraising campaign to replace David's primary mode of transportation. The initiative quickly gained traction with Jerry’s riding club, members of the community, and a local business. Randy and Pam Lent made a donation and assisted with the fundraising efforts, while Chris Pinho and employees of his company, Chris’ Property Management, joined numerous Red Barn Riders members in making financial contributions.
Together, the donors successfully raised enough funds to purchase David a brand-new bicycle, with some money to spare.
Jerry, Pamela, Randy, and Pam, along with numerous members of Red Barn Riders, met with David recently and presented him with his new bicycle and cash that was donated. David and his family expressed their heartfelt appreciation for this gesture by the community.
