CATSKILL―Students in the Catskill High School's Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) program teamed up with CHS teacher Kelly Marino’s Fashion Design class to gather and make items for those in need at the Greene County Community Action Domestic Violence Shelter.

The project was led by sophomores Aaron Cousens and Jaxx Marquez-Haberstroh.

Throughout the year, FCCLA members raised funds to purchase socks and new pillows to put in care packages for the shelter, while students in Fashion Design cut and sewed the pillowcases.

FCCLA members also brought in donations such as toothbrushes and toothpaste to contribute towards the care packages.

This March, Cousens and Marquez-Haberstroh presented the 16 care packages to Greene County Community Action, a donation valued at $500. They will also attend the NYS FCCLA Leadership Conference March 19-20 to present their project in the STAR (Students Take Action with Recognition) Event Competition.
