CATSKILL―Burger King in Catskill is undergoing a whopper ofa remodel as part of a multimillion-dollar, companywide modernization effort.

“A new Burger King ‘Sizzle’ restaurant is under constructionat 241 W. Bridge Street,” said Burger King spokesperson Trae Martino.

The restaurant, now surrounded by temporary fencing, hasbeen closed since late last month as crews strip the building down for renovation.Construction is scheduled to be completed in early December, but timing remainssubject to change as construction progresses, Martino said.

“In 2023, we unveiled our new ‘Sizzle’ restaurant image―abold, modern design that meets the evolving needs of today’s consumer,”explained Martino.

“It features interior and exterior upgrades like digitalordering kiosks, an updated drive-thru, and stand out design elements like theKing Booth and Home of the Whopper wall,” he added.

The remodel is part of Burger King’s broader $400 million “Reclaimthe Flame” initiative, aimed at giving most of its U.S. restaurants a modernlook by 2028.

The existing site configuration and building size willremain the same with minor improvements for pedestrian and vehicle circulationenhancements, according to Craig Tripp, a senior project manager withAlbany-based Greenman-Pedersen, Inc., who submitted documents in May to theCatskill Village Planning Board.

The façade will be remodeled to reflect current corporatestandards, and the drive-thru ordering lane will be reconstructed to providenew equipment and improved vehicle circulation, Tripp noted.

“Additionally, the existing handicap parking spaces will berelocated to provide ADA compliant configuration and slopes, and to allow spacefor construction of a new ADA accessible walkway and stairs from the Route 9Wsidewalk up to the main building entrance,” he explained.

“The site is accessed by two existing driveways on Route 9Wand one on Central Avenue, and there are no changes proposed to these existingcurb cuts,” Tripped added.

Burger King is Catskill’s oldest fast-food restaurant, serving up burgers, fries and more for more than 40 years. It is owned byCarrols Corporation, the nation’s largest Burger King franchisee, with morethan 1,000 locations.
