
SAUGERTIES―A 15-year-old has been charged with the murder of a woman in the Saugerties hamlet of West Camp, just south of Cementon.
According to the Saugerties Police Department, officers responded shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 to a location on John Schultz Road after receiving information about a possible homicide.
An investigation ensued with the assistance of the New York State Police, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, and Ulster County Child Advocacy Center.
As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old male from Saugerties was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
The teen, who has not been publicly identified, was arraigned in Town of Saugerties Justice Court (Youth Part of the Superior Court) and remanded to a secure facility without bail, pending a future appearance in Ulster County Youth Part Court.
Additional charges are expected, Saugerties Police said.
Information regarding the victim, an adult female, is being withheld at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
