SOUTH CAIRO―Since 2017, travelers seeking a unique getaway in the Catskills have flocked to A Tiny House Resort in South Cairo where miniature cottages, creekside relaxation, and farm animals create an experience unlike any other in the region.
Now, for the first time, the resort is opening much of that experience to local residents and day-trippers through a new day pass and half-day pass program.
It allows guests the ability to enjoy many of the resort's amenities without committing to an overnight stay, making it an attractive option for families, birthday parties, bridal groups, and anyone looking for a memorable day in the Catskills.
Nestled on 50 acres along the Catskill Creek, A Tiny House Resort has become known for its blend of outdoor recreation, family-friendly activities, and small-town charm. Visitors arriving with a day pass can spend the day swimming in the resort's heated pool, relaxing by the creek, exploring picnic areas, or taking advantage of a long list of games and activities spread throughout the property.
Amenities available for day-pass guests include volleyball, pickleball, basketball, ping pong, foosball, cornhole, life-sized chess boards, arts and crafts activities, and access to the beautiful Catskill Creek. Guests can also rent tubes and spend time floating down the creek, kayaking, or cooling off in a natural swimming hole located along the waterway.
The resort's resident animals remain among its most popular attractions. Daily walks with goats and sheep are offered for guests, while Saturday mornings feature goat yoga sessions beginning at 9:30 a.m. Among the stars of the herd are two goats named Milo and Bob, who have become favorites among returning guests. Ducks and chickens also roam portions of the property, adding to the farm-like atmosphere.
Current pricing is $125 for adults for a full day and $75 for a half-day pass. Children's passes are $85 for a full day and $55 for a half day, while children ages three and under are admitted free. Pricing may vary on weekends and holidays.
For those interested in additional activities, goat yoga sessions are available for $25 per person, with group rates available for parties of three or more.
The resort's craft studio also offers an impressive schedule of hands-on classes, typically hosting four to six sessions each day. Youth classes begin at 11 a.m., while the final classes of the day generally run between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Guests can create sea glass art, resin projects, tiny trays, clay pendants, mosaics, painted works, bottle-cap art, scented creations, and even teabag paintings.
"Making suncatchers is our most popular request," said owner Margery Juszczak.
The grounds feature a snack shack stocked with refreshments and board games, a children's playground, and an outdoor watercolor station designed specifically for younger visitors. The resort also hosts outdoor movie nights complete with fresh popcorn and cotton candy. Admission to movie nights is $20.
While day-pass holders can enjoy much of what the property has to offer, a few amenities remain exclusive to overnight guests, including the resort's private dog park and access to accommodations.
For those looking to extend their visit, the resort offers a variety of lodging options, including its signature tiny houses and three tent camping sites. Bathrooms and showers are available on the property, and guests can either reserve online or check in through the main office.
The resort's origins are rooted in personal experience. Juszczak says the idea was inspired by a period in her life when she lived in a camper, sparking an appreciation for compact living and thoughtful use of space.
That family connection runs deep. The property was originally purchased by Juszczak's father and has since been operated by Margery, her children, and soon, she says, her grandchildren.
"This is a family-run business," said co-owner Melissa Edwards. "It is a multi-generational labor of love."
As the Catskills continue to draw visitors from across the Northeast, A Tiny House Resort's new day-pass program offers a fresh way for locals and tourists alike to experience one of Greene County's most distinctive destinations—whether for a few hours, a full day, or an entire weekend getaway. The resort is located at 2776 County Road 23B in South Cairo.
