PRATTSVILLE―The Zadock Pratt Museum, with the support of the Virgil E Deyo American Legion Post 1327, has announced a new exhibit: a mountaintop tribute to the military branches of the United States.

The exhibition will debut with the museum’s opening on Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, May 23.

The goal is to provide a central exhibit of the local residents who served in the various branches: Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Space Force.

The Pratt family had a well-documented history of serving the United States during Zadock Pratt’s lifetime and also during his son’s lifetime.  The museum board felt that it would be a fantastic way to pay tribute to families of the mountaintop and a tie into the banners Virgil E Deyo American Legion Post 1327 has been displaying for several years.

The museum is looking for local families from Prattsville, Grand Gorge, Lexington, Gilboa, Conesville, West Conesville, West Kill, Ashland, Jewett, Blenheim and Windham to get involved. Families are welcome to submit more than one tribute per family. The exhibit will run through the end of June.

Anyone interested is asked to submit a copy (no original photos, please) of an honorably-discharged service member in uniform in a simple 9x12-inch black frame along with another black 9x12-inch frame with a brief bio of the service member.  A copy of a newspaper article can also be used.

Tributes can be dropped off at the museum at 14540 State Route 23 starting on May 2, or mailed to P.O. Box 333, Prattsville, NY 12468. For those who are not providing frames, kindly include a $10 check made payable to the Zadock Pratt Museum to help cover the costs.
