CAIRO—The Cairo-Durham Central School District announced Monday the appointment of Brooke Dickson as the new assistant principal of the middle/high school, effective July 1, 2026.

Dickson brings 15 years of experience in education and a strong commitment to supporting student success. Throughout her career, she has served students and families with a focus on creating school environments where everyone feels valued and welcome.

“If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I believe community matters,” Dickson said.

“Whether it's a family, a school, a neighborhood, a team, or an entire town, the strongest communities are built on relationships, trust, and people who genuinely care about one another. That's why I am so excited to join Cairo-Durham as your new assistant principal,” she added.

Dickson started her career as an English teacher and says her passion has always been helping students succeed and fostering a strong sense of community.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join this district and look forward to working with students, families, staff and community members,” Dickson said.

As she prepares for the upcoming school year, Dickson said she is most excited about getting to know the people who make the Cairo-Durham community special.

“Throughout my career in education, I have learned that the heart of any great school is its people,” she said. “I am eager to learn about the traditions that make this district unique and become an active participant in the life of the school.”

Dickson said she is also eager to celebrate student achievements and being present throughout the school community.

“I am especially excited to visit classrooms, attend athletic events and performances, support extracurricular activities, and interact with students throughout the school day,” she said. “Some of the most meaningful moments in education happen outside of a planned lesson or meeting, and I look forward to being present for those moments.”

Dickson added that she is excited to work alongside a community that cares deeply about its students.

“Together, I believe we can continue creating an environment where every student feels supported, challenged and valued,” Dickson said. “Thank you for welcoming me to the district. I cannot wait to begin this journey and help make the upcoming school year a great one.”

Outside of school, she is a wife, mother of two children and a soccer coach. She enjoys attending NASCAR races, golfing with her husband and meeting new people.
