COXSACKIE―American Legion Post 166 Veterans Banner/Field of Flags Committee met recently for their annual donations to the community ceremony.
The donations come from the Coxsackie Hometown Heroes Veterans Banner Program where banners of Coxsackie veterans are proudly displayed throughout the village from May through Veterans Day in November.
Donations also come from the annual display of the Field of Flags on a piece of property on Mansion Street that Aaron Flach graciously allows the committee to use. Each year, families may sponsor an American flag to be displayed in honor or memory of a loved one who served in the military. They are displayed from Memorial Day through August.
The Veterans Banner/Field of Flags Committee includes Lou Martin, chairperson; Paul Maurer, vice chairperson; Suellen Meier, secretary; Joe Noeth, Kaaren Kiernan, Bob Desrosiers and Judee Daoust Synakowski.
The committee would like to thank everyone who sponsored a banner and/or a flag for their continuing support.
This year’s recipients include Coxsackie Girl Scout Troop 1237, Coxsackie Hose 3 and D. M. Hamilton Fire Co. Hose 2, Greene County Women's League Cancer Patient Aid, Henry Hudson Youth Soccer League, American Legion Baseball, P.A.L. and Coxsackie-Athens Little League.
