W. Scott Nezich, 57, of Palenville passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2026.

Born in Kingston, NY to the late Patrick A. and Sandra Verzyl Nezich, Scott grew up in Cementon, where he formed lifelong friendships. He had a very happy childhood and was raised in a loving, hardworking family.

He graduated from Catskill High School in 1987. At the age of 20, he met the love of his life, Carroll, and they shared 37 wonderful years together. Together they owned and ran Bill’s Grill in Catskill for five years. Scott had recently begun his 25th year with Sysco Foods, where he worked as a District Sales Manager.

Scott loved his family deeply, both immediate and extended. He treasured his friends and never needed an excuse to spend time with them, especially if it involved a great meal and a few drinks. He loved listening to music and going to concerts, enjoyed glamping, and faithfully watched the New York Yankees win and the New York Jets mostly lose.

Above all else, Scott’s greatest joy was being a father to his wonderful daughter, Grace. His love for his family was at the heart of everything he did.

Scott had a full and complete life, surrounded by the people and things he loved. He was grateful for all of it and often referred to himself as “the luckiest guy in the world.” He was loved and respected by all who knew him, and his kindness, friendship, humor, and love will remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Carroll Nezich; daughter Grace Nezich; sister Eve-Marie (Philip) Ceryanek; brother-in-law John Noble; niece Kyra Ceryanek; nephew John Patrick Ceryanek; uncle Keith Kinch; aunt Virginia Nezich; as well as many dear cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, September 24, beginning at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Service will begin at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott’s honor may be made to two organizations that were very dear to his heart: Friends in Adoption, 49 Castleton Meadows Lane, Suite 103, Castleton, VT 05735 or Civil Air Patrol NY-390 and mailed to Vanguard Composite Squadron, PO Box 79, Freehold, NY 12431.
