Toby Ann Cure, 78, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Kingsway Nursing Center in Schenectady after a long illness.

She was born on April 12, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY and she was the eldest daughter of Solomon (Sol) and Doris Epstein.

After graduating high school, Toby continued her education at SUNY New Paltz where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. After college she moved to Coxsackie, NY where she taught elementary education at Coxsackie-Athens Central School.

While living in Coxsackie, Toby met the love of her life and married Wayne Cure on July 14,1979. They moved in 1990 to Three Forks, Montana where Wayne had taken a job at the local medical clinic and Toby continued teaching kindergarten at the Three Forks Elementary School.

Toby was very athletic and enjoyed skiing, golfing, camping and along with Wayne she went duck hunting, fishing and four wheeling. She was an accomplished quilter and created many amazing quilts, sweatshirts, wall hangings and anything else “quilt”!  

She donated or gifted many of her incredible works of art to local charities and hospitals.  

After Wayne died in a tragic accident in 2010, Toby moved back to New York to be close to relatives and friends.

She is survived by her sister Susan (Charles) Rodgers, Little River, NC; her brother-in-law Richard (Nancy) Cure, Coeymans, NY; her nephew Charles (Katie) Cure, her niece Margaret (Joseph) Garland and her great nephews Joseph, Charles and Raymond.

She is predeceased by her parents Sol and Doris Epstein, her in-laws, Raymond and Betty Cure and her youngest sister Gail Epstein. Toby is now reunited with the love of her life, her husband Wayne.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Kingsway Community for the wonderful care they have provided Toby over the last few years.  

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Toby’s life on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5-6 p.m. at Brady Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street in Coxsackie.
