On Monday, June 22, 2026, Robert “Bob” Andrew Kovacs, 66, of Lanesville, formerly of Haines Falls, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer, leaving behind a testament to his unwavering strength.

Born on November 1, 1959, in Kingston, he was the son of the late John Kovacs and Marianna.

Robert (Bob) is survived by his sons Robert and Matthew Kovacs and Jayden Benjamin; his sisters Cheri Kovacs of Kingston and Diana Kovacs of Cottekill; his brothers Joseph and Jeffrey Kovacs of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania; his niece and caregiver Amanda Kovacs-Benjamin of Lanesville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister Carol Kovacs-Ostrander, his twin brother Michael Kovacs and his sister Susan Kovacs.

Bob's passions for woodworking, fishing, and yardwork brought him immense joy. He enjoyed road trips and would always suggest a shortcut. His generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial gathering will be held on July 18 at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main Street, Phoenicia from 2-4 p.m.
