GREENVILLE―Michael Robert (Fred) Peck passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, at his home, at age 53, in the arms of his wife and daughter.

Michael was born to Kathleen and Robert Peck Jr. in Albany on September 16, 1972.  He graduated from Greenville High School, class of 1990, and went on to study Electrical Engineering at Hudson Valley Community College.  After working as a mechanic, Mike was a petroleum driver at Cumberland Farms for 22 years.

Michael was a country boy at heart.  He enjoyed being outdoors, farming, and working with his hands, but most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughter, who he loved more than anything in the world.  He was the best husband and father that anyone could ask for.

Michael is survived by the love of his life, Deanna Peck, who he was married to for over 31 years, and his daughter, Emily Peck, who was his pride and joy.  Michael is further survived by his mother, Kathleen Peck, his brother, Brian Peck, his cousin, Mark Boomhower, who was like a brother to him, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is predeceased by his father, Robert Peck Jr., his maternal grandparents, Gerald and Genevieve Boomhower, his paternal grandparents, Robert Peck Sr. and Harriet Peck, and his niece, Kaleigh Peck.

In 2023, Michael was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called Chordoma, which develops in the spine.  Chordoma only affects one in a million people each year.  Michael fought long and hard, far more than most people ever would.  He had three major spinal surgeries, two of which were 7.5 to 8.5 hours long, and eight weeks of Proton Beam Radiation Therapy in New York City.  Furthermore, after discovering that the cancer had metastasized to his lungs, he went through two lung surgeries and participated in a clinical trial, also in New York City.

Emily and Deanna would like to extend a special thank you to the following: Dr. Ahmed Meleis, Michael’s neurosurgeon at Albany Medical Center, who was the absolute best doctor and surgeon we could have asked to have by our side throughout this journey; the M2 floor at Albany Medical Center; Eastern Mutual Insurance Company, Deanna’s workplace, for their kindness, flexibility, and support.

While Michael may have had a one in a million cancer, he always had been, and always will be, our one in a million.  Per his request, Michael’s ashes will be spread privately in the hay fields where he grew up.
