Michael Marino, 66, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at his home in Round Top, New York.
Born September 13, 1959, in Flushing, Queens, New York, he was a son of the late Edith Marino (Rende) and Joseph Anthony Marino. Michael graduated from Oceanside High School, class of 1976, and earned a certificate from BOCES in Heating/Air Conditioning.
He was a talented artist with a unique style, good with his hands, could fix anything, animal lover, good neighbor and friend, and all-around good man.
Michael is survived by his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Jeremy Byrnes, and his grandchildren Brycen and Brinsley. He is also survived by daughter and son, Cody and Dylan Marino, and his sister, Linda Raymond.
For all his adult life, Michael lived on his farm in Round Top, doing what he loved, building stuff, creating unique art pieces, working on cars, tending his pets and animals, and socializing with neighbors and friends who loved him like family. He went all out on Halloween.
He enjoyed swap meets, flea markets, and car shows, and was a respected member of the car club community (Rats Nest Run-In, Greene County Cruisers). A true artist and bit of a rebel, the custom rat cars he created from repurposed parts were right up his alley. He was one of the most popular vendors at Rats Nest Run-In.
Known affectionately as Mikey, Uncle Mike, Grandpa Mike, many looked up to him as mentor, role model, and honorary blood-tie. Loved ones describe him as: fun, jokester, generous with his time and knowledge, always willing to offer help to anyone, big heart, creative genius, gifted, great neighbor, legend, talented, gentle soul, constant and kind, best friend, considerate, wonderful spirit…
Michael leaves behind a huge circle of friends, family, and community who will miss him tremendously.
