Linda Louise (Staunch) Macpherson, born April 18, 1950, in Catskill, NY to Joseph A. and Muriel F. Staunch (Stotesbury), passed away on May 13, 2026, in Catskill.

Linda was raised in Freehold, NY and lived in Cherry Hill, NJ, Kansas City, MO and Albany, NY. She graduated from Greenville Central High School, Greenville, NY.

Linda was a member of Blue Star Mothers of Greene County, Girl Scouts of America (troop leader Brownies through Cadettes), and was a member and long time Sunday School Teacher at Freehold Congregational Christian Church.

Her hobbies and enjoyments included reading, Walt Disney World, visiting the beach (beach lover); she was an animal lover and avid supporter and donator to all local animal shelters and rescues.  Linda also supported Veterans organizations and Cancer research groups.

Linda was predeceased by her husband, Duncan G. Macpherson; blood siblings, Joseph (Michelle) Staunch and Bonnie L. Staunch; siblings by marriage, James F. ("Gabby") Macpherson, Mary K. ("Kathy") Macpherson, Yardsley A. Macpherson; her parents, Joseph A. & Muriel F. Staunch; many beloved pets including Kolby, Tiffany, April, Snitch, Darwin, Lola, Shiloh, and Bella (to name a few).

She is survived by: children, Catherine (Kate; Seth) L. Arel, Scott A. (Nora) Macpherson, Mary Alyssa (Ali; Clay) Macpherson, Duncan F. (Terese) Macpherson, Kara M. Macpherson, Christine M. (John) Macpherson; sister, Sally A. Staunch; sisters in law, Elizabeth R. (John) Rowe of Oceanside, NY; and Christine F. (John) Meharg of San Francisco, CA; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; many grand fur-children.

Linda wore her heart on her sleeve. Whether by means of leading or participating in community organizations, or hosting her children's friends at her home, Linda was always ready with open arms and an open heart. Her smile and laugh could light up a room. When she wasn't working as an Administrative Assistant at NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, or volunteering in the community, she was transporting and attending her children’s activities in sports and beyond or enjoying some sunshine floating in her pool.

She loved traveling with her husband, Duncan, and even more so when she was able to bring her beloved children along to make it a family vacation (especially if the trip was near an ocean). Her chocolate chip cookies were unrivaled, and she would always be sure if you loved something she cooked, you never went without. Her love for her family was enormous, and unmeasurable, and her light on this earth will be sorely missed.

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Graveside service will be Friday, May 22 at 1 p.m. in the Freehold Cemetery.
