Jose B. Colon, age 78, of Leeds, passed Tuesday, December 9,2025 surrounded by his family.

He was born May 18, 1947 in Juanadiaz, Puerto Rico, the sonof the late Jose Luis Colon and Maria Dolores (Pagan) Colon.

Jose was a long-time NYS Corrections Officer prior to hisretirement.

He was predeceased by his wife, Vilma H. Colon on February18, 2023; and a son, Jose B. Colon Jr. on July 29, 2019.

Jose is survived by four children, Rosemarie Soto, Vanessa Colon and Esteban Colon and Frances Colon; His brother and sisters Jose L. Colon, Frances Jackson and brother in law, James Jackson; Ruthie Early; Godchildren Robert Colon and Jovenna Pelton; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several beautiful nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are Monday, December 15 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. Funeral servicewill follow at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill.
