John “Jack” Malone passed away surrounded by his family in his home in Indian Lake NY, after a brief and sudden illness. Jack was raised in Saugerties NY, and was a resident of East Durham, NY for 38 years.

Jack worked most of his career in transportation: driving cars, trucks and motor coaches. He retired after 26 years as a school bus driver for Cairo-Durham CSD.

Jack was always ready to help anyone at any time it didn’t matter if you were a total stranger or you were a friend or family member; if you needed help he was there. He had a heart of gold. He deeply loved his family and friends.

He loved hanging out in his barn in East Durham with his “barn buddies” especially Dave Bacucci. Many knew Jack as the guy that did regular yard sales and he made friends with everyone. His children and grandson remember hanging out with Dad/Bub tinkering around and singing oldies. Jack loved hosting the annual Malone BBQ with his wife Cassie for family and friends.

Jack enjoyed working on cars and did countless oil changes and repairs for his family. He was always there to help someone move and with five children and a grandson, he moved a lot of furniture! Jack loved to travel and enjoyed driving. He was always ready to take his family and friends anywhere they needed to go he’d say, “You know I don’t need an excuse to drive, where do you need to go?”

Jack and Cassie traveled near and far to 48 states making wonderful memories. Jack especially liked finding local places to eat while traveling and having new adventures on the road. One of the highlights was traveling on Route 66 and Jack would tell anyone he met to “go travel in our country and you will find the most amazing things!”

Jack was a devoted, son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many people and was loved by many he will be missed.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, John and Martha Malone and his brother Michael Malone.

Jack is survived by his wife Kathleen “Cassie” Malone of nearly 44 years.
