James Forrest Ketcham, 73, known as “Jimmy” and “Tenny,” of Catskill, NY, passed away on September 12, 2026, from cancer, facing his illness with incredible strength, bravery, and determination.

A 1971 graduate of Catskill High School, James went on to earn a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from Paul Smith’s College. He then traveled extensively in the United States before settling near Nashville, Tennessee. He spent several decades working in the food industry before shifting to construction, where he continued to apply the hard work ethic and commitment that guided him throughout life.

Jimmy was a fun-loving man who enjoyed good music, cold beverages, riding his ATVs, and spending time outdoors. He demonstrated kindness to strangers and was generous to all who needed help. He lived life in his own way and brought his unique spirit and love of the outdoors to those around him.

He will be remembered as a beloved big brother by his four sisters, Nancy, Eileen, Sharon, and Peggi, and their families. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Dorothea Scanlan of Catskill, NY.

The family would like to acknowledge “Ike” who nicknamed Jimmy “Tenny.” Jimmy described Ike as “the best friend I ever had.” Because of Ike’s friendship and support, Tenny was able to stay comfortably in his home during his illness and for that the family is grateful. A very special thanks to the family and friends who helped with Jimmy’s care over the past two years.

Jimmy’s courage, free spirit, and love of life will be remembered forever.
