COXSACKIE―James D. “Dale” Haines, a lifelong resident of Coxsackie, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Dale was born on January 20, 1942, a son of the late James C. and Kathryn A. Van Denburgh Haines. He graduated from Coxsackie-Athens Central School. On April 10, 1971, Dale married the love of his life, the former Kimberly Joan Medert.

Dale was a lifelong dairy farmer and also served as a rural letter carrier with the United States Postal Service at Earlton.

He was a past member of the Earlton Volunteer Fire Company, a 35-year member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and an 8-year member of the Earlton Fish & Game Club.  He enjoyed touring on his trike Goldwing with Kim.  They also enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with their friends.

Dale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kim; daughter, Barbara (Christopher) Rosa; grandchildren, Stephanie and Zackary Rosa and his first great-grandchild on the way; sister, Judith Donovan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thank you to Patrick Donovan for always lending a helping hand when needed.  Also, the family wishes to thank the Coxsackie Rescue Squad, Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Medway First Responders, and all our neighbors for their kindness throughout this difficult time.

Calling hours will be Thursday, August 27 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville.  The funeral will be at 1 p.m., followed by burial in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie.  After the burial, please join the family at Pegasus Restaurant for some refreshments and sharing of memories.
