Douglas Rose, 65, of Leeds, passed away quietly after a long illness on March 17, 2026.

Born in 1960 to the late Edwin and Patricia Rose. After graduating from Catskill High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for four years as a Seabee in Marine Construction, completing assignments in Texas, Europe, and East Asia.

After his time in the Navy, he moved to Florida and met his future wife. The two eventually made their way back to his hometown of Leeds, where he settled down and began building his career as an HVAC specialist. He spent many years working for S. T. Hudson before becoming a member of Local 21. He also continued his military service in the U.S. Naval Reserve, serving an additional 20 years.

Doug loved a good argument and wasn’t shy about making his opinion heard. But above all that he loved his family more than anything. His favorite holiday was Independence Day and he made sure family and friends were with him to celebrate and be a part of his grand fireworks displays. Later in life having time with his grandchildren meant everything to him.

Survived by his wife of 35 years, Bridget; children Dillon (Ashley) Rose, Joshua (Mariah) Rose and Jenna (Kenneth Scott) Rose; grandchildren Annelyse, Taeghan, Scarlett, Joshua, Ivy, Dahlia and Lila; siblings Edwin (Anne) Rose, Patrick (Joanne) Rose, June Rose, Suzanne (Steven) Casabella and Patricia Rose; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents and nephew Kevin Rose.

Funeral arrangements are private and under the care of Breanna Lennon DelVecchio of Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
