Cory Thomas Dunn, 33, of Kiskatom, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, following a tragic accident.

Born on May 18, 1992, Cory lived a life defined by extraordinary craftsmanship, unwavering integrity, and a deep devotion to his family.

Cory was a man of action and a master of many skills, and there wasn't a challenge he couldn't meet. His ultimate passion project was his home. After purchasing a sawmill, he meticulously milled every piece of lumber for the house himself. This same dedication shone through in his 15-year career at Ducommun, Inc., where he worked as a Tool Design Engineer. Cory was the rock of his workplace, valuing his "work family" far above financial gain, regularly turning down outside opportunities to remain loyal to his team. He held an A&P license in mechanical aviation, a testament to his sharp mind and technical skill, which he earned at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Cory's hands were rarely still. When he wasn't building two separate engines (a small block and a big block) for his truck, he was creating memories with the people he loved. He treasured family trips to Hatteras Island, North Carolina and York, Maine. There he spent time fishing and boogie boarding with his kids, cooking on the shore with his dad and best friend Tim and taking road trips and long walks with his wife. He was a man of his word, famous for his firm handshake and a generosity so profound he would give you the shirt off his back.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 11 years, Alysha Dunn; children Lainey Catherine, Avani Elizabeth, Heidi Mae, and Cory Thomas Dunn Jr.; parents Steve and Colleen Dunn; sister Shelby (Josh); grandfather, Thomas Jones, whom he looked up to in many ways, and Nana, Ann Dunn; as well as his loyal dog Ruby.

He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Cornelia (Robert); his brothers and sisters-in-law, Krista (Keith), Erica, Julia (Adam), Adam, and Jayda; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends who have become family.

He was predeceased by his loving grandmother “Grammy,” Carol Jones and his grandfather “Frampa,” Thomas Dunn.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 26 from 3-6 p.m. at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. In honoring Cory’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Supporting the Dunn Family,” a GoFundMe created to help support Alysha and the children during this difficult time. Donations may be made online at https://gofund.me/6f8d230dd.
