Brendan D. Murphy, 70, of Coxsackie and formerly of Leeds, passed away after a long illness on January 11, 2026, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 11, 1955, in Brooklyn, NY―the fourth son of the late Patrick and Nora Murphy.

Brendan graduated from Catskill High School in 1974. After high school he moved to Texas where he began his professional training in all types of flooring installations. Brendan moved back to NY and established along career as the co-owner of Vaughn/Murphy Flooring Systems before retiring in 2021.

Brendan was an avid NY Mets fan and enjoyed the sibling rivalry of those in his family who were not. On May 21, 1983, Brendan married the former Deborah J. Cahill at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Watervliet, NY. They were married for 28 years and lived in Athens, NY.

Brendan leaves behind his loving family; brothers Patrick (Eileen) Murphy, Brian (Pat) Murphy, and Sean (Yong) Murphy; sisters Mary Patricia (Edward) Morgan and Eileen (Jack) Alverson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and in-laws.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Deborah, and brothers, Michael and Kevin Murphy.

Although Brendan's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit and memory will continue to inspire and uplift us all. He will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 15 from 5-7p.m. at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Catskill.
