Barry D. Esbin, 88, of Hunter passed away on January 15, 2026.

He was born in Brooklyn, a son of the late Nathan and Betty Shapiro Esbinsky. Barry served in the US Navy from 1954-1958 and then in the Reserves. A plumbing contractor, Barry worked in the family business, Edward Esbin & Sons in Brooklyn and Queens. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and was active in Scouting.

Barry and Sandy moved to Hunter 30 years ago. He belonged to the former Hunter American Legion and was active in the Little West Kill Conservation Club.

Beloved husband of Sandra “Sandy” Lichtman Esbin; father of Randy Esbin (Lisa) of Massapequa, Keith Esbin (Katty) of Apopka, FL, Scott Esbin (Mary Ann) of Arizona, and the late Lance Joseph Esbin (Serpil Esbin of New Jersey); grandfather of Brett Esbin (Jillian), Amanda (John), Kimberly Esbin, Kristin Daniel (Steve), Michelle Glenn (Robbie); great grandfather of Kylie, Sadie, Robbie, Silas, Jason, Emma, Seylan, and Cole; brother of Adrienne Lieberman of Long Island, Richey Esbin of St. Augustine, FL and the late Arnold Esbin; uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at Temple Israel, 220 Spring St., Catskill on Monday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, Catskill.
