Anthony William Cardinale, 88, of Catskill, NY, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Catskill, he was the son of the late Hazel Pittsley Cardinale and Peter Joseph Cardinale.

A lifelong resident of Catskill, Anthony graduated from Catskill High School in 1957. He enlisted in the United States Navy on August 21, 1957, and served aboard the destroyer USS Blandy. He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1961.

He married Patricia Morgan on January 22, 1960, in the Village of Catskill. Together, they raised three children: Renee, Anthony Jr., and Carrie.

Anthony established Cardinale Electric, a successful electrical business that served the Catskill community for many years. After retiring from his business, he continued a career as an electrician with the New York State Department of Correctional Services, retiring in 2008.

He enjoyed spending hours with his metal detector in search of local treasures and making annual trips to Massachusetts to fish for trout. He could often be found cooking in the kitchen, and he loved making homemade wine with friends. He loved going to the casino with his childhood and long-term friend Rudy and hanging out with the guys at Dave’s garage. Tony and his brother-in-law Eddie spent many hours talking on how they would solve world problems.

Anthony had an electrifying personality, to say the least. Those who knew Tony understood that beneath his tough exterior was a soft heart and a generous spirit. His daughters affectionately called him “Teflon Tony,” a tribute to his resilience, determination, and attempt to bounce back through years of health challenges.

He was a member of Community Life Church in Catskill. His family is forever grateful to John Scopa for his dedication, support, and friendship, and for continuing Bible studies with Anthony when he could no longer attend church services.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Cardinale; his daughter Renee Calvo and her husband, Fred, of New Bern, North Carolina; his son Anthony Cardinale Jr., of Catskill; his daughter Carrie Cardinale and Jaime Silver, of Earlton, NY; his grandchildren Raina Calvo Bolding and Christopher Cardinale; and his great-grandchildren Olivia Bolding and Ridge Bolding.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Peter Cardinale; his brothers Joseph Cardinale and Peter Cardinale; and his sisters Anna Baccaro and Josephine Hazzard.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held from 12-1p.m. on Saturday, November 7, at Community Life Church, 20 West Main Street, Catskill. A funeral service will then be conducted by Pastor Rick Snowden at 1 p.m., followed by Military Honors by the Honeyford American Legion Post 110 of Catskill and TGM American Legion Post 187 of Athens. A reception will be held at the conclusion of services at Community Life Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Life Church Catskill, 20 West Main Street, Catskill, NY, 12414.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Breanna Lennon DelVecchio and Robert Gaus of Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill.
