Born on August 7, 1951, in Enniscrone, County Sligo, Ireland, to James and Mary Cawley. Anne was raised on a farm alongside 12 siblings. Anne spent most of her youth helping with daily farm responsibilities and creating everlasting bonds with her siblings.

Anne attended Quigabar National school and later the Covenant of Mary and Jesus in Enniscrone, where her unwavering faith and sense of community continued to grow, laying the foundation for the devoted and steadfast woman she would become.

Growing up in a large Irish family, Anne developed a remarkable work ethic at a young age. The long days and nights spent working on the farm instilled in her a sense of discipline, resilience, and responsibility that remained with her throughout her life. After school, she worked in Enniscrone and Claremorris before moving to the US.

Anne left her beautiful home of Ireland in her twenties and started a new life in Bronx, NY. Soon after she moved to East Durham, where she met her husband, the father of her son, Joseph Keenan, they ran a successful business together for many years. Anne quickly became a big part of East Durham's Irish community and the Lady of Knock shrine, where she taught religious education for many years.

After the passing of her husband, she then dedicated her work ethic and heart to Gavin's Irish Country Inn, where she worked for the rest of her beautiful life. Gavins became a big part of her life, where she spent countless hours baking Irish soda bread and scones, along with other tasks, but most of all it's where she met people that she loved deeply like her own. Anne was known for her dedication, generous heart, selflessness, strong faith, and sense of humor, and for the way she showed her love through unwavering support, inspiring those she loved to strive for their full potential.

Anne is survived by eight of her siblings, her son Joseph Keenan Jr., her granddaughter Breezeanne Keenan, many nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by four of her siblings and her husband.

A viewing and celebration of life will be held at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, NY on Tuesday, March 3. Viewing is from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Service is at 12 p.m.

Anne’s love, faith, and strength will live on in all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
