GREENE COUNTY―Voters headed to the polls on Tuesday for New York’s Primary Day with a handful of races in Greene County.
Winners of their party’s primary will appear on the November ballot. Results below are provided by New York State Board of Elections and unofficial until certified. Results do not include absentee ballots which must be postmarked no later than June 23 and received by individual county boards of elections by June 30.
Democratic primary for New York State Comptroller
Results are statewide as of 11:45 p.m. with 10,903 out of 12,853 election districts reporting.
Incumbent Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli - 536,261
Drew Warshaw – 169,365
Raj Goyle – 116,017
The winner, all but certain to be DiNapoli, will face off in the November election against Republican and Conservative nominee Joseph Hernandez and Working Families pick Sienna Fontaine.
Democratic primary for 102nd Assembly District
Results are districtwide with all election districts reporting.
Janet Tweed – 2,523
Thomas Boomhower – 1,527
Mary Finneran – 1,400
Tweed will appear on the Democratic line on the November ballot against Finneran, who has already secured the Working Families line, and Marc Molinaro, the Republican and Conservative candidate.
The district includes all of Greene and Schoharie counties, along with parts of Albany, Delaware and Otsego counties.
Tweed has been down this road before, prevailing in a 2024 primary against Finneran, but ultimately falling short in the general election to incumbent Chris Tague (R/C-Schoharie), 46,038 to 26,423.
“I’m honored that Democratic primary voters have chosen me to represent them on the ballot this fall,” said Tweed.
“With over 20 years as a practicing physical therapist, and over eight years on local municipal boards, I have the experience necessary to make real, positive change in the Assembly,” she added.
Tague opted not to seek reelection in order to run for State Senate in the 51st District which encompasses Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie, and Sullivan counties. He was challenged in Tuesday’s primary for the Republican line, defeating challenger Terry Bernardo, 6,631 to 5,663.
“This victory is one more step toward giving our communities the strong voice and common-sense fighter we need in Albany,” Tague said Tuesday night.
“I’m grateful, I’m energized, and I’m ready to keep this campaign moving forward. Now we unite, we work, and we win in November,” he said.
Tague will run against Democratic and Working Families party candidate Michele Frazier.
Republican primary for New York’s 19th Congressional District
Results are districtwide as of 11:45 p.m. with 647 of 654 election districts reporting.
Peter K. Oberacker – 13,553
Alexander M. Portelli – 3,857
Oberacker will vie against incumbent Democratic Congressman Josh Riley in the November election.
“Thank you to the voters who made tonight’s decisive victory possible,” said Oberacker. “This campaign has always been about giving Upstate New York a real voice in Washington and this is first major step toward flipping this seat in November.”
The 19th Congressional district includes Broome, Chenango, Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Sullivan and Tompkins counties, as well as parts of Cortland, Rensselaer and Ulster counties.
