COXSACKIE―After 16 years, The Cask and Rasher is moving away from pub service and transforming its Mansion Street location into a micro-event venue.

Owners Jocelyn and Jarrett Lane announced the transition on Friday, saying the space will be rebranded under Fire Candy Catering & Events, a company they established in 2016 and have successfully operated out of The Cask and Rasher kitchen.

The newly reimagined venue will host rehearsal dinners, showers, birthdays, retirements, and other private gatherings, as well as select ticketed experiences including themed dinners, pop-ups, cooking classes, and live music events, the Lanes explained.

The decision to close the pub was not easy, they said.

“The way people gather and celebrate has changed and Fire Candy allows us to focus on what we do best―food-driven events, private celebrations and unique, memorable hospitality that truly exceeds expectations,” explained the Lanes, who will continue to offer off-site catering.

“It also allows us to continue doing the work we love while better balancing family life,” they added.

The couple has owned and operated several hospitality ventures over the years, including Storm King and Memphis Hustle BBQ.

“Across all of them, our focus has always been on exceptional food, community and creating meaningful experiences,” the Lanes said.

Enhancements to the new venue space will be introduced in phases, with events continuing as scheduled. Additional updates that are planned for spring 2026 will offer new features and experiences while maintaining uninterrupted service, the Lanes noted.

“While the venue’s role is evolving, the legacy of The Cask and Rasher will continue through future food truck appearances and special event activations, ensuring the brand remains part of the local community,” they said.
