




SAUGERTIES―One man was killed and six others injured in a wrong-way crash Sunday night on the New York State Thruway.
It happened at around 9:11 p.m. in the northbound lanes, between exits 19 and 20, in the town of Saugerties.
According to State Police, preliminary investigation determined that a 2025 Toyota was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it struck a 2022 Honda, a 2020 BMW, and a 2017 Ford F-150, all of which were traveling northbound.
The operator and sole occupant of the Toyota was identified as Joseph Mensah-Otoo, 42, of Pittsfield, MA. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Six other individuals were injured in the crash, including a 37-year-old male from New City, NY; a 59-year-old male and a 44-year-old female, both from Cohoes; two 19-year-old males, both from Dalton, MA; and a 19-year-old male from Hinsdale, MA. All were transported to Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston with non-life-threatening injuries.
State Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
