RENSSELAERVILLE―A 47-year-old man wearing a cow costume allegedly tried to stab a family member during an altercation over the weekend.
It happened Saturday evening on Jubilee Road in Rensselaerville.
According to the Albany County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 7:30 p.m. to a reported domestic incident.
The sheriff’s office said Anthony Pappalau, of Waterford, attempted to stab the victim with a knife and struck them in the leg with his car before fleeing the scene.
Pappalau was dressed as a cow at the time of the incident, police said, but it remains unclear why.
The victim refused medical treatment at the scene and the sheriff’s office did not disclose the individual’s relationship to Pappalau.
Pappalau was later located by police in Rotterdam. He is charged with second-degree attempted assault, a felony, as well as second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all misdemeanors.
Pappalau was arraigned in Rensselaerville Town Court and released pending future court appearances.
