Leeds man one of four charged in convenience store burglary

ALBANY―A Leeds man is one of four people charged in connection with a Tuesday morning burglary at a downtown Albany convenience store.

Around 8:40 a.m., Albany Police officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Mr. Convenient at 82 Ontario Street.

Upon arrival, police say two individuals who were observed in possession of stolen items from the store and were taken into custody at the scene.  

Two additional people matching the description broadcast over police radio were located and taken into custody in the area of Ontario Street and First Street after exiting a nearby residence, police said.

Albany Police then executed a search warrant at a nearby residence where multiple items stolen from the store were recovered. Additionally, a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered from inside the residence, police said.

Through investigation, it has been determined that all four individuals gained entry into the store through a window, police said.

Charged with felony counts of third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny are Adam Dittmar, 39, of Leeds; Taimeka McKiever, 38, of Albany; Ashley Fitzgerald, 38, of Schenectady; and Joseph Nadal, 45, of Albany. Nadal is also facing one count of felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Fitzgerald, Dittmar, and Nadal were arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail. McKiever was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released under the supervision of Albany County Probation Services.
