GREENE COUNTY―For the last decade, Greene County Restaurant Week has been one of the area’s most delicious annual events.
Slated this year for April 6-12, it is a celebration of flavor, creativity and community that features 14 different local eateries with prix fixe menus for both lunch and dinner.
Lunch prices range from $15 to $25, with dinner at $30 to $40.
“Participating restaurants create special menus that really showcase what they do best,” said Beth Stewart, president and executive director of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce that sponsors the event.
“We also schedule it during a time of year that can be a little slower for the restaurant business, so it helps bring people out while highlighting the incredible dining options we have throughout the county,” she added.
So, what is on the menu? Creekside in Catskill is offering a two-course lunch featuring a garden salad or seafood bisque along with choice of a chicken cordon bleu sandwich, French dip, fish and chips, or harvest salad with grilled chicken―all for $20.
Dinner at Reds Restaurant in Coxsackie includes a first course of beet carpaccio, Rhode Island clam cakes or their famous Buffalo shrimp wings; a main course of shrimp ala vodka, pork Giordano or stuffed gnocchi; and strawberry rhubarb pie, tuxedo truffle mousse cake or ride pudding for dessert―all for $35.
Other participating restaurants include Barnwood in Catskill, Char’s Family Diner in Cairo, Frank Guido’s Port of Call in Catskill, Gray Willow in Earlton, La Conco Doro in Catskill, Log Cabin Café in Purling, Patrick Henry’s Waterfront Tavern in Coxsackie, Paul’s Pizza & Pasta Italian Restaurant in Coxsackie, Phos My Greek American Kitchen in Catskill, Pomodoro’s Italian Restaurant in Catskill, Rip Van Winkle Brewing Company in Catskill, and The Stewart House in Athens.
“All Greene County restaurants are invited to participate each year, and we always hope to see new ones join in,” said Stewart. “Restaurant Week is a great excuse for people to get out and explore the restaurants we have across Greene County.”
