




ATHENS―The First Reformed Church of Athens invites all to share in their joy as they celebrate their 200th anniversary.
Saturday, May 16 at 7 p.m.
An evening of learning about life in early 19th century Athens, when the church was founded.
Guest speaker is Debra Bruno, author of A Hudson Valley Reckoning: Discovering the Forgotten History of Slaveholding in My Dutch American Family. She will be sharing what life in Athens was like in the 1820s. Following the talk, there will be samples of food from the 1820s.
Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m.
An ecumenical service celebrating the founding of the First Reformed Church of Athens 200 years ago. Participants will include past pastors and members of the Greene County Ecumenical community. Special music by the Hudson River Bells.
The church is located at 18 N Church Street in Athens.
