NEW BALTIMORE―A Coxsackie woman has died following a head-on collision with a commercial box truck on State Route 9W.

Lenore M. Nevins, 50, was critically injured in the crash, which occurred at approximately 10:26 a.m. October 28 at the intersection of County Route 51 in the town of New Baltimore.

According to New York State Police, a preliminary investigation determined that Nevins was driving a 2023 Nissan Altima on County Route 51 when she attempted to make a left turn onto Route 9W to travel north.

While making the turn, her vehicle entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound 2016 Hino commercial box truck.

Nevins was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the box truck, 41-year-old Adam R. Benton of Hurley, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

The crash prompted a large emergency response and forced the closure of Route 9W in the area for several hours as authorities investigated the collision.

Responding agencies included New York State Police, the Greene County Sheriff's Office, Cornell Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Ravena Ambulance, Greene County Paramedics and LifeNet of New York.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the State Police Catskill Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-344-5300.
