COXSACKIE―With Coxsackie experiencing renewed growth, officials are in the process of updating the town and village’s joint comprehensive plan with a public open house slated for later this month.

It will take place on Wednesday, March 25 at Pegasus Restaurant, 10885 State Route 9W. Community members are urged to drop in anytime from 4-7 p.m. to contribute ideas to the plan.

“The open house format is designed so community members can stop by and spend as little or as much time as they want visiting a series of interactive stations set up throughout the event space,” the Village of Coxsackie explained in a statement.

Attendees will be encouraged to use pens, markers and Post-it notes to provide comments, share ideas and mark maps.

Representatives from Environmental Design & Research, Landscape Architecture, Engineering & Environmental Services, D.P.C. (EDR), the firm working with local officials to refresh the plan, will be at the open house to answer questions and discuss topics or ideas.

“Active participation of our residents in the process is vital to determining the future of our community,” said Coxsackie Town Supervisor Rick Hanse.

“I encourage all residents to get involved in the updating of this important document as it will provide a blueprint for the future of the village,” added Mayor Mark Evans.

The first Comprehensive Plan Committee meeting took place last September in coordination with the Village, Town and Greene County Industrial Development Agency (GCIDA).

The goals and vision of the current join comprehensive plan, adopted in 2007, are still largely relevant and many have been accomplished. But now, the town and village are experiencing a renaissance, with new investments in both communities including Riverside Park enhancement, the NY Forward Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) for downtown Coxsackie, revitalization of the Hudson River waterfront, new developments along Route 9W, and continued housing development.

The updated plan is intended to serve as a roadmap for decision-making, resource allocation, and project planning over the next 10 to 20 years.
