CATSKILL―Jeffrey Field will need to wait until next month to learn his fate after the convicted killer’s sentencing was postponed due to a court calendar conflict.
The 37-year-old Round Top man is facing up to life in prison after a Greene County Court jury found him guilty on November 24, 2025 of second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault.
Field’s sentencing was initially scheduled for January 23 but Judge Megan Galligan has now moved it to February 9, court records show.
Galligan, a New York Supreme Court justice from Sullivan County, presided over the case after both Greene County Court judges, Charles Tailleur and David Costanzo, recused themselves due to previous dealings with Field during their time as prosecutors.
The murder case dates back to August 22, 2021, when Field stabbed Adam White, 27, of Catskill in the chest and back, penetrating his heart and spleen, during an attack on Summit Avenue in the Village of Catskill. Christopher Gere, 33, of Catskill, was also stabbed and airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
Also implicated in the stabbings is Michael White, 35, of Catskill who is of no relation to Adam White and faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and tampering with physical evidence.
Michael White is in the Greene County Jail without bail and scheduled to appear in Greene County Court on February 9, immediately after Field’s sentencing, for a conference with prosecutors and Galligan, court records show.
Represented by defense attorneys John Hillman and Steven Patterson, Field is expected to file an appeal of his convictions.
“He should spend the rest of his life behind bars for his despicable actions,” said Greene County District Attorney Joseph Stanzione, adding that Field “displayed absolutely no remorse for his murderous act.”
“The prosecution will seek a life sentence for Jeffrey Field,” Stanzione said.
