CAIRO―A Cairo man is behind bars after police say he forcibly raped a child.

Dominick Utano, 37, was arrested by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday and charged with predatory sexual assault, a class A-II felony, and first-degree rape, a class B felony, as well as endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

According to the sheriff’s office, they responded on January 14 to a 911 call at a private residence in Cairo for a sexual assault complaint.

The investigation determined that Utano allegedly forcibly engaged in sexual contact with a juvenile female victim, the sheriff’s office reported on Wednesday.

Utano was arraigned in Catskill Town Court and remanded to the Greene County Jail without bail.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Greene County District Attorney’s Office and New York State Police.
