Bank of Greene County matches donation to Blue Star Mothers

CATSKILL―Donald E. Gibson, president & CEO of the Bank of Greene County Charitable Foundation, announced a grant from the Bank’s Charitable Foundation to Greene County Region NY13 Blue Star Mothers, a non-profit organization serving members of the military, veterans, and military families in Greene County, and matching grants from the Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) and the Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN).

Greene County Region NY13 Blue Star Mothers is a not-for-profit organization consisting of mothers of active duty and veteran service men and women. The mothers provide support to troops serving domestically and in foreign countries through care packages, cards, and letters. They also provide emotional support to local veterans and their families, as well as to each other monthly through group meetings.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Bank of Greene County Charitable Foundation, the AMBA, and AFFN for their generous support of our organization,” said Lisa Messina, treasurer of Greene County Region NY13 Blue Star Mothers.

“These grants will help us continue providing care packages, resources, and encouragement to active troops, veterans, and military families throughout our community. Their commitment to supporting those who serve our country truly makes a meaningful difference,” Messina said.

AMBA is a national trade association that represents banks operating on military installations and serving military members, veterans, and their families. The organization advocates for financial services that support the military community and partners with member banks to provide financial education, community support, and charitable giving initiatives.

AFFN is an electronic transfer network which provides U.S. military personnel with access to their funds through ATM and point-of-sale terminals at or near U.S. military bases worldwide. AFFN’s mission is to increase the versatility of participating financial institutions to better serve the U.S. military.

Bank of Greene County supports active military personnel, as well as veterans and their families, and is a member of the AMBA. Bank of Greene County is also a participant of the AFFN and Veterans Benefits Banking Program (VBBP), a program of AMBA.
