Annual community reading of Irving’s ‘Rip Van Winkle’

HAINES FALLS―Storytellers and story lovers are invited to join the Mountain Top Historical Society’s annual community reading of Washington Irving’s classic tale of Rip Van Winkle’s legendary journey with his dog, Wolf, into the Catskill Mountains.
It takes place on Sunday, October 11 at 2 p.m. at the Mountain Top Historical Society’s Ulster & Delaware Train Station, 5132 Route 23A in Haines Falls.
Catskill Artist Matt Bua will bring his Traveling Rip Exhibit. Ol’ Rip himself will make an appearance. Families and children are welcome.
Attendees and readers are encouraged to dress like Rip Van Winkle, Dame Van Winkle, Bowling Dutchmen or Wolf.
This is a free event. Cider and donuts will be sold by donation to benefit The Mountain Top Historical Society.
