Wayne Marquoit, 79, of Catskill passed away on December 10,2025.

Born in Catskill to the late Leonard and Alliene Marquoit, he attended Lafeyette College in Pennsylvania. He served his country playing trumpet in the Army band, which brought him to North Carolina where he met his wife of over 50 years, Veronika. He brought her with him back to Catskill, where they both became active members of the community.

Wayne was deeply devoted to his hometown and had a story or memory to share for every street in the area. He was an avid golfer, collector of antiques, and a relentless joke teller with a pun ready for every situation.

He quietly maintained a goal of doing one good deed everyday and was quick with a friendly greeting for anyone he met. An employee of the State of New York for nearly thirty years, he instilled in his children the importance of hard work, but that your job is only a part of who you are.

Survived by his daughters Caroline (Kirk) Scheel and Emily(Joshua) Cushing; grandchildren Lucas, Logan, Leland and Auden; his brother James (Margaret) Marquoit; cousin Jane (Audrey) Towner; as well many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Veronika Marquoit; and his brothers Leslie (Rhoda) Marquoit and Thomas (Patricia) Marquoit.

A memorial gathering will be announced and held at a later date.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.
