Robert J. Dunn, 87, of Malden Avenue, Palenville passed away at his home on December 18, 2025.
He was born in Brooklyn, a son of the late Michael and Margaret Dunn.
Each summer, his family would vacation in the cabins at Griffins Irish House in Palenville. These trips were filled with joy, as swimming in the creek behind Griffins and attending the annual Clam Bakes became the highlights of those wonderful summers.
Bob became a welder for Dock Builders Union Local #1456 in New York City after he left his position at Circle Line.
Together with his beloved wife Marjorie who passed away in 2021, Bob made the meaningful decision to raise their children in the country. They were the first in their family to purchase a home in Palenville, a choice that was soon followed by many other family members.
Bob was known as an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for fishing and hunting. He cherished spending time in nature, and these activities brought him great joy throughout his life.
Beloved husband to Marjorie J. Dunn, who predeceased him. He was a loving father to Linda Dunn, Laura Dunn, and Tom Dunn, all residing in Palenville, and to Robert Dunn of Homer Glen, Illinois. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Roxanne Dunn, Robert Dunn, Conor Dunn, Darcy Dunn, and Albert Schneck. Robert was also a proud great grandfather to Cherish.
He was predeceased by all five of his siblings: the late Michael Dunn, Margie Rogan, William Dunn, John Dunn and Carol Kelleher; and his late brother-in-law, Edward Braffett.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, James (Julie) Braffett and sister-in-law, Janet Cespuglio, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
